It is a bit overrated - if Britain had not been crippled by two World wars, would she have given India up so readily. Whilst the non-co-operation movement was certainly impressive the real problem came with the withdrawl of British rule and the bloodbath of partition and for which Gandhi paid with his life and was powerless to prevent.
