Passport police verification report?

I have applied for passport for my daughter in Pondicherry and the police verification happened just two days after that. But after 6 months, I am getting a letter from the passport office saying that Police verification report has not been received. How am I to proceed? Whom should I approach in this matter. I do not know the name of the Police Officer who came for enquiry.
