Texture Artist Enquiry?

Hi there! I know the basic skills to be a texture artist, but I can't find any online courses for art or game art (I have to study at home for personal reasons), and I need something affordable. I understand that I need a degree, but what degree would you suggest? I've honestly looked everywhere. Would a graphic design degree be OK? I know I'll have to do 3D Max courses, Z Brush, etc, etc, but as long as I have a degree (graphic design?) will that be enough for the games industry?
